Wanting to end your year with a bang? We have compiled a fantastic list of destinations to start your 2017 off in the right way. These destinations have been selected to suit all types of traveller, from honeymooners, to backpackers and families.
New Year in the City:
Tokyo, the capital city of Japan, is a city that everyone must visit in their lifetime. With new-age technology filling the city, you will be in awe of the visual effects displayed on the skyscrapers and at the harbour! Stop in Ginza Kagari for some delicious Japanese ramen, before exploring Sensō-ji, the oldest temple in Tokyo and the most popular Buddhist temple in all of Japan. For the best views of the spectacular firework displays, head to the Skytree, the tallest tower in the world. Make sure to book tickets in advance. Head to the top of the tower and have some sake at the bells.
If you are keen to be involved in Japanese New Year traditions, climb up Mount Takao very early in the morning on the 1st of January, to watch the sunrise. It is a very popular tradition in Japan to pray to the first sunrise of the year, in the hope that it will bring good fortune in the new year. Remember to take our fantastic hand hygiene treatment, Hysan Hand Gel, for your climb up Mount Takao. This gels kills 99.99% of germs and bacteria on contact, and it is contained in a handy 60ml bottle, making it perfect for carry-on luggage for a short stay in Japan.
Promoted as the friendly island of the Caribbean, St. Martin is a great sanctuary to spend your New Year. St Martin is divided between the French and Dutch nations. The dry season begins at the end of December, so you will have highs of approximately 28°C! Remember to pack your swimming gear, sunblock and Trek Ultra DEET spray, our most advanced insect repellent. Trek Ultra, when applied will provide you with up to 12 hours protection from mosquitoes, and due to its unique micro-encapsulation technology, this repellent is also sweat and splash resistant.
For a fun day out before the celebrations, we would recommend the full day eco-snorkelling and beach excursion, which includes lunch, complimentary drinks and turtle spotting. Later, head to Marigot Water Front on New Year’s Eve, where there will be evening entertainment and firework displays from 7pm onwards.
If you are more of a wildlife fanatic, why not spend you New Year at a secluded safari park in Kenya? In Mahali Mzuri, stay at the Mara Lodges, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife including zebras, cheetahs, elephants and so on. There are many reasons why this is without doubt the best safari accommodation in Kenya. The Mara Lodges include internet access, a spa tent and a games room for kids.
While in Kenya, we recommend you use a mosquito net at night for effective bite prevention. Our self-supporting nets and hanging nets, with the exception of the Cot Bell Net, have been pre-treated with unique Zi Technology, allowing you to be protected from bites for up to 2 years, or 35 washes. For a safari stay we would highly recommend our Premium Wedge Mosquito Net, a fantastic lightweight hanging net, available in a single or double size.
Kitzbühel in Austria is a true winter wonderland. Amounting up to 179km of thrilling slopes for all levels, it is no wonder why this is one of the best ski destinations in the world! If you are wanting to party and splash some cash, head to Club Take Five. You will not regret spending New Year’s Eve here. Another great activity here is the Gaisberg Toboggan Run, a fun & windy track for thrill seekers, with spectacular views as you head down the slope.
If you want to stay in a luxury ski chalet with your family and friends, try the Apartment Prestige, which includes a spa, jacuzzi and your very own cinema room. This accommodation sleeps 6 and is a short walk from the town centre. If you are staying in self-catering accommodation such as a hostel, remember to take Hysan Surface Sanitiser to wipe food preparation surfaces before and after your meal. This fast-acting spray skills 99.99% of germs in just 30 seconds!
We wish you an unforgettable trip and we hope you have a fantastic 2017!
