Following many years of sustained growth, Scottish Borders based Pyramid Travel Products have moved to the next stage of an ambitious expansion plan with the purchase of a new factory. Part of the Scotmas Group, a world leader in hygiene protection and water treatment, Pyramid develops and manufactures products that protect against the many insect and water-borne diseases that can be encountered by travellers around the world. DEET and DEET free repellents, after bite sprays, soaps and hygiene products are manufactured at the factory in Kelso, mosquito nets are manufactured at the factory in Turkey.

New products for 2018 include a unique Lyme disease testing kit, designed to test ticks for the presence of the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. The kit will provide laboratory certified results and be an invaluable aid to fast diagnosis and treatment, which is crucial in effectively treating what can be a debilitating condition.

Alistair Cameron, Managing Director of the Scotmas Group, said: “These are exciting times for Scotmas as we enter our 20th year. We have ambitious plans to scale-up our operations in response to significant global interest in our innovative new water treatment and travel health products, and this relocation is a crucial part of those plans.”

Nicola Cameron, Head of Pyramid Travel Products said: “We are really energised by our impending move. As we have added more lines to our range, and demand has increased, it has become more and more difficult to meet capacity on our existing site. The relocation will give us the extra space that we really need to meet current and future demand, we are also taking the opportunity to review and enhance all our production layouts. Development of our European distribution network is next on our list of priorities, this would simply not be possible without the space and capacity that this relocation will provide.”

Supplementary to the new production space will be new product development and customer training facilities, allowing the company to offer further support to its customers.
