People Canoeing In The Sea

Costa Rica and Mosquitoes

Main Image

Situated between Nicaragua and Panama with coastlines on the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, Costa Rica is known for its beaches, mountain ranges, volcanoes and wildlife, making it a great destination for travellers to visit. However, this great biodiversity has its downsides, in particular the mosquito population.

Costa Rica’s government take mosquito-borne illnesses seriously, using aggressive campaigns which have proven to be successful in controlling the spread of such diseases. However, with conditions constantly changing the government can never be in control at all times. With common mosquito-borne diseases in Costa Rica including Zika Virus, Dengue Fever and Chikungunya, it is essential that travellers bring the appropriate protection.

One of our customers recently returned from Costa Rica after using Trek 50 and Trek Sensitive:

“I purchased your product to use in Costa Rica where I had heard many horror stories about mosquitoes and when arriving and seeing people covered in sore ugly red bites I was a little concerned. Anyway, I used your product and I did not receive 1 single bite from any insect and even my sister who lives there got little bites whilst we visited places.”

Trek 50 is our strongest DEET repellent, providing up to 6 hours protection and receives great reviews from locations around the world, including South East Asia and the Amazon Jungle!

Trek Sensitive Rio

Trek Sensitive is our DEET-Free insect repellent which is clinically proven to be as effective as 50% DEET products, providing up to 12 hours protection from one application! Trek Sensitive also receives many great reviews from around the globe from Australia to Albania and can be used by children from age 2 onwards.
